Injera and communal plates, Ethiopian in Vitan
Bucharest had essentially no Ethiopian food until this place showed up on Calea Vitan. Stews and vegetables land on injera, the sour spongy flatbread that doubles as plate and cutlery, and you eat it together by hand.
The spicing is intense and sharing isn't optional, which is the whole point. It's deep in Vitan, off any tourist track, so the trip is part of the deal. Bring at least one other person and order to share.

We had a very enjoyable meal here and it was a great introduction to Ethiopian cuisine. The food was tasty, full of interesting flavors, and everything we tried was well prepared. The service deserves a special mention. The lady who served us was exceptionally friendly, took the time to explain the menu, and helped us choose the dishes, which made the experience even more enjoyable. What also made the visit interesting was that the restaurant seemed to function as a gathering place for the Ethiopian community living and working in Bucharest, giving it a lively and authentic atmosphere. We visited on a Sunday, and while it was nice to see people socializing, there were quite a few empty beer bottles left on the tables in use, which made the place feel a little untidy. I found the food slightly expensive for what was offered. Still, it's a place worth visiting if you're curious to experience Ethiopian cuisine in Bucharest.

What a food, what a service and hospitality đđđđ As a musician, I have been travelling all over the world and ate to different Ethiopian restaurants. I have never eat a very tasty Ethiopian dishâs like this. Itâs so delicious. I feel like at home. I really appreciated as I never expected that we would find Ethiopian restaurant in Bucharest and here is Abyssinia the one and only but, itâs the best of the best. God bless the owners and his best customer service team, specially Fre, she is amazing.

Excellent food and experience! The coffee is well aromated, the beef exquisite and all the flavours completely unique! The injera tastes amazing, the berber spice gives a truly unique taste to the meat (perfectly balanced spicy taste)! Totally recommend this experience in Bucharest!

Had my first delicious encounter with Ethiopian food here. I was genuinely looking forward to trying it, and I have zero regrets. I went in tired, barely able to drag my feet out of the house, and came out full, energetic, and ready for a 30m walk home. I asked the waitress what she would recommend to a couple of newbies to their cuisine, and she suggested a mixed platter for two. Great suggestion. It consisted of a tender and deliciously spiced beef stew, a beef and onion sautee with chilies, and some fresh cheese--all served on injera, with more injera on the side. The injera itself was honestly the star of the show--it has a slighly sour, citrusy aroma unlike any other grains I've tried, and it complimented the beef dishes perfectly. It's light in flavour and texture, but is sturdy enough to scoop up food in a much better way than an Arabic flatbread, for example. I am really looking forward to going back and trying a few more dishes. PS: incense hangs relatively heavy in the air, please be aware if you are scent-averse.

I have no idea why this place isnât full 24/7. The food here doesnât just look amazing. It really feels authentic in the best ways. They even have some beautiful words written for the clients on the first pages of the menu, as you may see in the picture I attached. The servers here are all super nice and lovely as well. A place filled with beautiful amazing people. The music is special as well. I will definitely come back here â€ïž
