Momo and slow Himalayan curries near Gara de Nord
The momo dumplings are the reason to detour into the scruffy blocks by Gara de Nord. Chautari cooks Nepalese food that Bucharest is only just discovering, curries and slow-cooked plates built on Himalayan home cooking.
A chautari is the shaded resting platform built around a tree on Nepalese mountain paths. The name fits: a rest stop, not a scene. It's one of the more interesting budget-friendly openings of its year, and a solid reason to walk Griviței's unloved stretch.

Generous portions, amazing food that was full of flavor and the cook was very friendly. The atmosphere was nice, and we even got a few new songs for our playlist from here.

The whole restaurant had such a nice vibe to it, the food was delicious and the staff was so nice! The woman who took our order also spoke excellent English so communication was no problem at all!

The place is a hidden gem. The food is very good. The prices are more than reasonable. The staff is very friendly and the place has a very warm and cosy feeling to it. I recommend it with a full stomach .
