Crema

Musanze's specialty coffee shop, now with a proper garden
Crema has been Musanze's reference point for good coffee for years. It started in a small room full of plants, the kind of place regulars used as a base before or after a day in Volcanoes National Park.
On 24 December 2024 it moved into a bigger space nearby. Regulars had watched the old spot close earlier that year and assumed it was gone. Then the doors opened again at Christmas: more room, a real garden, an ice-cream cart out front.
The move didn't change what Crema does well. Real espresso in a town where instant coffee is still the default. Bagel sandwiches and cake for people working on a laptop or killing time before a trek. It runs as a specialty coffee shop, not a hotel add-on, open seven days a week from six in the morning.
Good to know
- Try the bagel sandwiches alongside the espresso.
- Arrive early, it gets busy with trekkers before 7am gorilla permits.

The place is really good. They have good carrots cake and coffee. Something to note, if you need details on something they sell you’ll need to ask multiple times, the ladies working there is like they speak in silent mode.

Great coffee, served with passion, by nice staff. Highly recommended. Unfortunately I only found this great café on the last morning in Musanze. It opens at 6 a.m. which is ideal after my morning jogging round. Look for the „Crema“ sign in the shape of a cup at the left when walking/driving out of Musanze. It is a bit hard to see from the road. Worth the 2 km trip from the city center.

Really good coffee with lots of choice. Great place to work on your laptop with reliable WiFi, soft background music, and not too busy. Food service is quite slow

This place is very neat! Great coffee and exceptional food with a wide variety of menu options from quesadillas, to wraps, burgers, kababs, and even rack of lamb! Everything we tried was delicious! We were a large group of 12 people and it took around 2 hours to get our food.

Lovely place! One of the best coffees I had in Rwanda. I visited twice during my travels from Kigali to Gisenyi. The server with glasses was very sweet and friendly. Definitely recommended!
