Grilled meat and cold drinks at Karambo's old resting spot

The name comes from Kubagore, a patch of Karambo village locals have used as a resting stop for generations. Igihe, the local paper, ran a piece tracing the story back. The bar built on that spot kept the name and the reputation: grilled meat, cold drinks, a stop that turns into a stay.

It's a short walk from the lakefront hotels, but the crowd is different. Fewer business travelers and wedding parties, more Kamembe regulars looking for a drink after work.

Good to know

  • Ask about the name, Kubagore was a known resting spot for travelers long before the bar existed.

It’s kind of a little secret bar in Rusizi. Difficult to find. Great informal place to have an intimate drink or meal with your partner or friends with splendid views of Lake Kivu and the islands around. If you come during the evening the lightning of Bukavu shines like the stars in the night. Needed some extra motivation to get my change.

Not bad for a chilled Sunday afternoon.. The menu is not so diverse but the food is great for the price. The location is not by the lake but right on the lake and it's so relaxing. The DJ has a great selection of Music, not so loud, just good for a relaxing evening. I am super satisfied by the presentation. Well put together.

A nice bar at the shore of the Kivu lake with a splendid view of the lake and Bukavu (DRC) on the other side...the offer beers, soft drinks. Their prices are relatively affordable... sometimes during the weekend, a band plays music. The service is fine but during the weekend, your order may delay due to the fact that the place is very crowded.
