A sea-facing pool where the old Sweet Coffee used to be
Yemanjā is named for the West African and Afro-Brazilian goddess of the ocean, which tracks: the whole room is built around a pool that looks straight out at the water on the Corniche des Almadies. It kept the «by Sweet Coffee» line in its bio, but that's the only thing that stayed the same.
Regulars who remember the old coffee shop barely recognize the place now. There's a new drinks list, a music and art program, and a look closer to a beach club in Bali than the café that came before it.

Superb atmosphere. Attentive staff. I’ve been there a few of times. The first time I visited, the restaurant was fairly new and I was quite intrigued. I asked the staff about the meaning of the name of the restaurant. They engaged with me a bit and brought the menu, telling me it has more context. I love the natural decor, the scents, the plants and flowers. I can tell they’ve put a lot of thought into the concept. The first time I went, I ordered a steak, with vegetables nems, and cucumber smoothie. The steak was okay, vegetables were amazing and the nems were phenomenal. The cucumber smoothie wasn’t to my liking so I left it untouched after a sip. (Was a bit too concentrated for me). They also forgot to bring the specific sauce I requested for my steak but when reminded, they apologized and brought it immediately. After a while, I went to watch the ocean and requested tea. I liked the options. They were attentive to my instructions and also came around from time to time to see if I needed anything else. I like that. I even forgot my dessert the first time I went. Was already in the car, about to leave when a staff member rushed over to bring it to me. How delightful. And the dessert (fruits) are delicious. The other time I went, I ordered a pizza. It was okay. When a waiter noticed me putting my cutlery down, they asked if I’d like the rest of it packed up for home. This happened without me having to request it. I appreciate the attentiveness. Their non alcoholic drinks are delicious. The tea again, was very good. And the staff are amazing. I wish they had more dessert options like cheesecake though. The food overall is okay (some dishes are great. Others could be improved on). Aside from that, I’d like for them to resolve the issue with their main phone number on google business. It doesn’t seem to work at all. I had to find another number on their IG page. It seems I couldn’t get a reservation since the one handling their WhatsApp wasn’t at the place (as they said). But they told me I could still drop by and would be given a table. I did so and was warmly welcomed. I told them my seating preferences and they kindly obliged but let me know those tables were available only until 8PM which is understandable. I wasn’t rushed though and I took my time while respecting the timing. When it was time to pay, the management asked me how my stay was and hoped I enjoyed myself. I absolutely did. It’s a calming place. One of the few restaurants I’d actually recommend.

I have traveled a lot, and been to multiple restaurants and this place is WITHOUT A DOUBT the best restaurant in Senegal right now! I’ve read the most recent review but They’ve only been open for 2 weeks and it seems the whole town is trying to be there! So just make sure you BOOK 👀… before you go ! You can tell it’s a family owned with the warm welcome, the decor, the environment… THE FOOOD (tasty and full plates, as you can see!) 🥹😋😋😋 You’ll see me every day !!! 🥰
