Paris-leaning wine bar on Stockbridge's best corner
Hamilton Place is the street to know in Stockbridge right now, and this is the room to book. The Captain Darling pours Parisian-style wine bar energy into a full restaurant menu, with a set menu running early evenings Monday to Friday between 4 and 6pm to fill the room before the rush.
The Scotsman named it among the year's best after reviewing more than forty new Edinburgh restaurants. Book ahead, this corner doesn't stay quiet for long.

Perfect all round. It was super quiet but we dined on a Thursday early afternoon. Place looks beautiful. Nice laid out tables with candles. Bar looks pristine.

Amazing place to eat! Every bit delicious. Super friendly and attentive service. They have an extensive whiskey selection. I tried a Bunnahbain 18 after a friend recommendation and it was lovely. I would give 10 stars out of 5 if possible. One of the best culinary experience so far. Just perfect under any detail. Very highly recommended.

Really great Sunday roast! everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, especially the crispy roast potatoes and rich gravy. Lovely atmosphere too. We’ll definitely be back!

Sunday Roast - Great cut of beef with a good layer of fat. Yorkshire pudding was small and just ok. Asparagus was a little tough. Gravy and horseradish (complimentary condiment) were a nice addition. £27 is way more pricey than other places.

Lovely place for a Sunday roast! I got the pork, partner got the beef. Great portions, would be nice to have a bit more veg/a side of veg you could order (the broccoli was a bit over-charred on mine but that’s personal preference). Lovely wine, sticky toffee pudding was great (and didn’t have that grainy texture you sometimes get!). The cumbrae oysters were fantastic and so were the haggis croquettes.
