Stuart Ralston's Parisian-style wine bar on Broughton Street, where Fhior used to be
Chef Stuart Ralston and co-owner Jade Johnston opened Vinette on Broughton Street in October 2025, on the site that used to house Ralston's own restaurant Fhior. The concept leans on Paris wine bar tradition: sharing plates and bistro dishes, wine-first, built for lingering rather than a set tasting menu.
It's the casual half of a two-part opening. Downstairs sits Vivien, an intimate cocktail bar from the same team, so the building covers a full night out: wine and food upstairs, cocktails below, no need to book two places.

An absolutely fantastic meal was enjoyed whilst in Edinburgh @vinette_edinburgh - the food was superb, check out the beautiful fish, venison tartare and chicken, not to mention their freshly cooked bread rolls. An absolute dining highlight. We also secured a walk in, which was greatly appreciated: the venue connects to a bar there called Vivien. You can have a drink before dining

Had a brilliant evening at Vinette. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, with a lovely interior that feels cosy and stylish - lovely table in the main restaurant with a view to the open kitchen. The food was excellent from start to finish. The snacks of pigs head croquettes, smoked trout roe/ cream cheese / crisps and chevre, honey & walnut were superb - light and delicious. The trout ceviche was beautifully served, fresh and full of flavour, the ham hock terrine was the best ever - rich and beautifully done, and both the lamb rump and monkfish were cooked perfectly - still thinking about the lamb jus and pesto - fantastic flavour! The Paris-Brest with rhubarb was a standout dessert and a great way to finish the meal. A special thank you to Elle and Robyn, who were so friendly & attentive throughout the evening. They really helped make our night feel special (and a shout-out to Ben too 😉!) It’s clear the kitchen brigade are all super-talented too! Great buzz and fab atmosphere- busy busy. Looking forward to coming back soon. 🩷

A really excellent place for dinner with well executed dishes done by an great team of chefs. The toasted bread with butter infused with chicken fat was a terrific way to start and the terrine, checked hearts, roulad, burger and monk fish were all delicious. Cosy and friendly with nice drinks selection.

Monkfish was very good. Venison tartare was nice, albeit very small in portion. Dessert was mediocre. Music was loud and tables were close to one another, so people started to raise their voice when talking (after a drink or two). The restaurant ambience was neither a noisy pub nor a casual French bistro, and was stuck in between. The restaurant was split into 3 sections based on floor layout and was making it hard to get the attention of the server to send the bill for payment.

We visited Vinette for birthday celebrations with friends, party of 8. From arrival to leaving we had excellent 👌 service both in Vinette and Vivien (bar). Staff were attentive, friendly, knowledgeable when asked about wine and menu choices. Menu was excellent and catered for everyone, food was delicious 😋 Wouldn't hesitate to visit again...loved it
