Common Good

Coffee, a hair salon and a listening room share one room

Three businesses, one small storefront off Ross Avenue. Common Good crams a coffee shop, a hair salon and a listening room into the same space, and somehow it works. Order a pistachio matcha or a Mexican mocha and get a haircut while you wait.

On paper this shouldn't function, three unrelated businesses splitting one roof usually means all three suffer. Old East Dallas treats it as a real neighborhood spot instead of a gimmick, and the crowd backs that up.

Being EXCEPTIONALLY picky about lavender lattes AND matcha, this place nailed both! The baristas are kind, and talented. Chris & Jessee have created a place that creates experiences such as live DJ sets on Saturdays, barbering & salon services, as well as a coffee shop that provides an open creative coworkers space for knocking out emails or a couple hours of homework. Stop in and visit ASAP!

Overall: 4.1/5 [dine in] Common Good is a unique mixed space that combines a coffee shop, a hair salon, and vinyl spinning all in one. They also do unplugged weekends so there is no wifi available. The seating is limited both inside and outside but the vibes are great for listening to music. It is better suited for a solo outing or a date given the small space. Peach Cobbler Matcha ($8.24): We got it with oat milk and skipped the peach cobbler cold foam since it contained dairy. They make their own peach cobbler syrup which has actual peach bits in it. It was not that sweet and the peach flavor was more subtle than I expected. I think it would have been much better with the cold foam. Without it this matcha was just okay. Tokyo Smoke ($7.21): We got this iced with almond milk. It is a hojicha with maple syrup and the best way I can describe it is if mezcal were a non-alcoholic caffeinated drink, it would be this. Very interesting but not really for me. My husband on the other hand loved it.

Amazing! The matcha with vanilla cold foam and vanilla and Cardamom syrup is AMAZINGGG just a little too nutty for my taste but for the price and quality I would come again! The atmosphere is very cool!! Shout out Adriana for being so helpful and kind!! She was very accommodating and friendly with me and my friends:)))

We didn’t have a great experience here. The barista was not very helpful and was honestly kind of rude. We got a pastry with onions/bacon that was good but cold, but we were kind of over this place already at this point to ask them to warm it up. And lastly, the coffee was just okay. A little watered down for my preference and the heavy syrup flavor that just tastes bad. My husband said his was fine, but nothing crazy. I was so bummed we went straight to another coffee shop and had a drastically better experience all around.

This place is such a vibe! A coffee shop and listening room in one? Oh, sign me uuuuupppp! The drink on the left was hojicha and the right was a chai. Both? GAS!
