Gavin Kaysen's French bistro lands in the North Loop

Croissants and coffee by day, a full French bistro by night. That's the flip at Bellecour's new North Loop location on 3rd Avenue, chef Gavin Kaysen's third Twin Cities outpost after Wayzata and Edina.

Come morning for pastry, come back for the same comfort cooking that made the original a destination. Same kitchen, same formula, new neighborhood to charm.

The atmosphere was cozy and absolutely perfect for a cold day. We shared the beef tartare and fries at the bar, both of which were excellent. I enjoyed an espresso martini while my friend had a dirty martini, and our server’s recommendation of a carafe of wine was spot on. Every detail of the experience was exceptional, and I can’t wait to return again soon!

We had a gorgeous dinner here. As with all Gavin Kaysen spots the service is top notch. The ambience was lovely, and the food was absolutely delicious and toed the line perfectly of special occasion and something you could stop in for weekly. The highlights were the bouillabaisse and lamb shank, plus the oysters (excellent mignonette) and wine. They were really generous about offering wine tastes before landing on your choice. This will be our new go to spot for a nice dinner out!

Great restaurant. Service is attentive without being overbearing. Everything I ate was amazing, aside from one drink which was a seasonal special that I tried out of curiosity. Great drinks otherwise, complementary mini croissant and butter was 10 out of 10. French onion soup on point. And pic is of the Hokkaido scallop crudo, very light and delicious, with some potato chips as part of the dish which worked well. Price was slightly less expensive than other French restaurants in the Milwaukee area, where I’m from. Ambiance, dinnerware, layout, and everything else was well done. My dessert was the crepe. And got the Dirty French Burger and frites to go for my wife and she really enjoyed them.

Bellecour was such a lovely experience from start to finish, and Sofia took wonderful care of us all evening with service that was warm, thoughtful. I haven’t treated myself to a nice dinner in quite a while, and this was exactly the kind of experience I had been hoping for. Everything felt elegant without being stuffy, the food was beautiful, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the hospitality made the whole night feel special. Sofia made us feel so welcome and truly taken care of, and it made the evening feel that much more memorable. Thank you to Sofia and the Bellecour team for such a wonderful night, we left feeling very happy, very full, and already looking forward to coming back.

We visited Bellecour in the North Loop last night and it was a great experience. We sat at the bar which is available for walk ins. We each had a cocktail, a couple excellent glasses of wine and grazed through the apps. Oysters, Orange Duck wings, the pate and the Crepe Opera Cake. Everything was fantastic but the duck wings were really terrific. Reasonably priced for the high quality. The service was warm, attentive and matched the upscale bistro atmosphere. Andre, behind the bar was so relaxed and knowledgeable. Effortless focus. Really enjoyed our time with him. Go!
