Quick-hit udon and hand rolls done right in the North Loop
Skip the sit-down wait and grab udon, donburi or hand-rolled sushi from the counter at Cafe Yoto. It's the fast-casual sibling to Kado no Mise and Sanjusan, half a mile away, and it doesn't cut corners on technique just because the line moves fast.
Office workers on lunch break and neighbors who don't feel like a full dinner out both end up here. Real craft, none of the wait.

Coming off a cold I just wanted some simple ramen, broth, rice, tofu. I'm a picky eater but they nailed every order. So warm so good, so well made, nice selection of canned I and bottled drinks and alcohol. Feel stronger already after this meal

I don’t say this lightly, but this is some of the best-tasting food I’ve had in town. Stepping in, the vibe is very minimal and clean. Welcoming above anything else. The staff is kind and encourages me to look at the menu. The menu behind the counter was easy to read and really well designed. I decided to get the karaage don rice bowl for lunch, and it didn’t disappoint. The chicken was perfectly lightly fried and incredibly juicy. Packed with flavor. I was sad the meal ended, so I kept peaking back at the menu and decided to order one more thing. I got the spicy salmon temaki. I was speechless. I could have ordered more. I am so happy to say I will be back! Worth every penny. Thanks for making my day.

3.5 to 4 stars depending on what you’re getting. The food is absolutely delicious! I usually get the karaage udon or just karaage as a side and it’s so juicy and perfect. Unfortunately I didn’t really enjoy the iced hojicha latte as it didn’t have a strong flavor and I am a big hojicha fan so my standards are a bit high, haha. The staff is also always nice.

I went back 4x in my one week in Minneapolis. I think that says enough! It’s simple, very affordable and delicious! My favorite was the spicy tuna donburi (not on the picture), the fried tofu (starter) and the ebi udon with curry broth. I was lucky to be there while they had a Friday promotion of pressed sushi. Will come back next time I’m in the city for sure!

Brought home take out for lunch, was a perfect hot meal on a cold MN day! I was pleasantly surprised to find the order was compartmentalized in take out boxes, helping to ensure things didn't get too soggy while I brought the meal home. The broth was very warm and as mentioned above, a nice treat after a cold walk outside. The tofu had a nice crust and the sauce was delicious, the udon noodles were nice and firm and the beef complimented the broth well. Overall a great experience and tasty food. 10/10 I will be coming back.
