Rougarou Baking
★ 4.9 · 62 reviews Philadelphia Opened April 2026
Creole and Jewish baking on South Fourth, jambalaya handpies included.
Rougarou opened on South Fourth Street in April 2026 with a bakery menu that crosses Creole and Jewish traditions. Babka and rugelach on one side, jambalaya handpies and key lime tarts on the other.
It's small and it sells out. Morning is the only reliable time for the handpies. The Infatuation added it to the Hit List.

I LOVE rougarou! One of the best babka I’ve ever tried and a new favorite pastry shop in Philly. The pastry team is so skilled and seeing them blend their expertise with flavors of their individual cultures is a breath of fresh air. We had a bite of everything they offer but the stand outs were jambalaya hand pie, a Muffaletta danish, the cardamom bun, the mushroom ramp pesto danish. Perfect salt balance ! A great bite , cannot wait to return

Not only are the people super friendly, the bakery items are wonderful. I’ve thought about the chocolate babka and the friendly welcome we received *multiple times* since the day I was there. Philly is lucky to have places like these!

So glad Rougarou Baking found a storefront in Queen Village! Everything here is so delicious and made with love. The owners always warm and welcoming to each customer, no matter how busy things get! I think my favorites though are the jambalaya handpie and their seasonal fruit pastries. I had this cherry mascarpone one a little while ago. It was so beautiful and tasted amazing!

Rougarou Baking was one of those rare places where every single thing we tried was outstanding. We walked out with a box full of pastries, a poptart, biscotti, and a loaf of bread, and there wasn't a weak item in the bunch. Everything felt handcrafted and original. Can't wait to come back to try more
