Small plates where Mexico meets the Mediterranean

The reason to go: dishes that put Mexican and Mediterranean flavors on the same plate, not split across a menu. It reads as real technique, not a gimmick.

The room is small, built for stretching a run of shared plates over a couple of hours instead of one entree and out. A year in, Saturday tables are still tough to land.

Mixela is a gem in Midtown Phoenix. The concept of globally inspired small plates works beautifully, and every dish we tried was packed with flavor, creativity, and attention to detail. The crudos were exceptionally fresh, the tapas-style plates made it easy to share and sample a variety of flavors, and the presentation was outstanding without feeling overdone. Chef Gian Franco Brugaletta has created a menu that feels sophisticated, yet approachable. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, making it ideal for date nights, celebrations, or an evening out with friends. Service was excellent, and the staff did a great job guiding us through the menu. If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers something different from the typical dining experience in Phoenix, Mixela is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Mixela in Phoenix is truly a hidden gem—an experience that deserves far more than five stars. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed into an intimate, charming atmosphere that feels effortlessly warm and inviting. It’s the kind of place where conversation flows easily, whether you’re on a romantic date night or gathering with close friends over an unforgettable meal. The food? Absolutely extraordinary. Every dish feels as though it was crafted with heart, passion, and intention—where love is genuinely in every bite. The flavors are thoughtful, beautifully balanced, and leave you already planning your return before dessert arrives. What makes Mixela even more special is the service. The staff doesn’t simply serve you—they care. Their attentiveness, warmth, and genuine hospitality elevate the entire experience, making you feel less like a customer and more like a welcomed guest in someone’s home. If you’re looking for a loud, flashy, see-and-be-seen restaurant, this isn’t it—and that’s exactly what makes it so special. Mixela is about phenomenal food, meaningful conversation, and authentic connection. A true Phoenix treasure. 10 stars, without hesitation.

**PORK SHORT RIB BITES TO DIE FOR** WOW. It's an European-style tapas bar in Phoenix, and hits all the marks. Hard to notice from the outside but great high-end atmosphere on the inside. We had a bottle of wine and shared probably half the items on the food menu, brought out as they were ready. Highlights are the assorted sashimi, super fresh and delicious, served artistically like a garden of flowers (hard to imagine until you see it). For hot plates, the PORK SHORT RIB is like little slices of rich, tangy, delicious heaven. Service is excellent, friendly, and attentive.

Had a wonderful experience here. Great atmosphere and great service. The scallops crudo and beef empanadas were delicious. Friendly and welcoming staff as well. Will definitely return.

Quelle surprise! My wife and I tried the restaurant this week and were stunned by the unusual and superb cuisine. What a delightful surprise this restaurant was. In the immortal words of Arnold, “We’ll (sic) be back.” ps. We are doing Dry January and I ordered this local N.A. beer which was the best N.A. beer I’ve ever tasted
