Itimpi Bookstore

★ 5.0 · 2 reviews Tampa Opened 10 June 2026

A bookstore inside a bookstore, built entirely on local writers

Look for the shop within the shop. Itimpi sits inside the Paper Seahorse on South Howard Avenue, a family-run nook stocked almost entirely with Tampa Bay and Florida authors, new and used side by side. Few bookstores in the city commit to a hyperlocal shelf like this one does.

It only opens Saturdays and Sundays, which keeps it feeling like a find rather than a routine stop. Author events and local book clubs have kept people coming back.

Really cool to see Itimpi finally have a physical location after following them since the pop-up days. Moira and Isabella have built a great little bookstore with a strong focus on Tampa Bay, Florida history and local authors. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re in the area and want to support a great local business.

I visited this hidden gem the first day Itimpi opened their permanent storefront. They’ve been a pop up bookstore but are now located in the back space of The Paper Seahorse. This hyper-local micro store is focused on Tampa Bay’s history, culture, and stories. It’s in a great spot sharing the larger house-turned-retail space with the stationary store and tea house. Together they create a peaceful sanctuary. Itimpi also has bookish gifts, children’s books, and beautiful historic decor. The owners were kind as they assisted my mother and I look for items. The energy held a welcoming, inviting yet refined charm. Please show your support by visiting them while they celebrate our area’s history.
