Vietnamese lacquerware, in a red brick building built just for it
Hanoia makes lacquerware boxes, trays, vases and jewellery with eggshell inlay and layered son mài, a technique passed down through Vietnamese workshops for generations. The flagship moved into the ground floor of the Press Club building at 12 Lý Đạo Thành in August 2025.
The three-storey red brick facade is shaped around the H of the Hanoia mark, and walking in feels closer to entering a house than a shop. Chaumet shares the other half of the ground floor. Rare in Hanoi: one lacquer house's full range under a single roof, not scattered pieces in a hotel arcade.
Good to know
- Look at the facade before you go in, each brick is moulded around Hanoia's H motif.
- La Table Hanoia, the group's restaurant, is on the third floor of the same building.

This used to be the go-to spot for the elite back in the day. The food is incredibly refined yet surprisingly affordable. With its elegant ambiance, it’s the perfect place for a date or hosting clients. I highly recommend the Bun Thang and Bun Cha. The Bun Thang broth is top-tier (super flavorful) while the Bun Cha comes with generous, high-quality portions of meat.

Perhaps the nicest restaurant bar I have visited in Hanoi. They treat you with special care, and the decor as well as the atmosphere is fantastic! And to finish they serve good food and have an awesome happy hour.

Exquisite food, drinks and service! This fine dining restaurant does it all. We tried the French (with some Vietnamese fusion elements) and everything was perfectly executed, with complex flavours, textures and presentation. The cocktails were also excellent - particularly the 'pho' cocktail that involves a fiery infusion process in front of you. The staff were lovely and helped work through options around my wife's dairy allergy We'd stayed in the Metropole hotel acrosd the road and the food here handily bests their restaurants

The mains are delicious. The phở broth is light and savory with plenty of beef and greens. They give you a lot of seafood in the fried rice. Soybean based butter made in-house is so unique, never had anything like that before. The drinks were delicious too. The chocolate chip cookies were so unique, there is a prominent spice to it that you taste (clove would be my guess) and then transitions to a chocolate chip cookie taste. Trinh and Hoa did an amazing job with the drinks and service. Everyone working there was so nice and everyone did a great job explaining any questions I had. Maybe due to not that many people even we came, the food takes probably around 10 minutes to get to the table. I love this place sm.

It was a lovely experience from start to finish. Food was sublime. Some of our party chose the degustation menu and some of us tried the fusion and Vietnamese dishes. All were delicious and the service staff took time to explain the menu, describe each dish, and made recommendations. The decor was comfortable and the staff friendly . A salubrious experience.
