An izakaya in Sunset Bazaar that hedges its bets across Japan, Korea and Thailand

Skip the single-cuisine menu. Umai mixes Japanese, Korean and Thai plates into one tavern-style spread meant for grazing and drinking, not a sit-down dinner. Small plates land in the middle of the table while the bazaar's evening crowd drifts by outside.

The format tracks who actually visits Sunset Town: Korean package tours, Vietnamese domestic travelers, a growing Western crowd. Umai's menu gives all three something they recognize. It opened alongside a run of other restaurants in Sunset Bazaar in November 2025, part of Sun Group's push to keep visitors eating in the district instead of leaving it.

  Amazing Japanese restaurant in Sunset Town. Everything we tried was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The sushi was top quality, the presentation was beautiful, and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. The staff was super friendly and attentive too. Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had during my trip to Phu Quoc — highly recommend if you’re visiting Sunset Town!
