Japanese cooking, no sushi train, no omakase price tag

Skip the conveyor belt and the eye-watering tasting menu. Mame does Japanese cooking that sits between the two, and it's why Broadsheet called it one of Perth's best new restaurants this year.

The room on Beaufort Street is small and fills up fast on weekends. Ask what came in fresh before you order.

Genuinely the best ramen I’ve had in Perth, I was almost disappointed with there only being one ramen option but it was made so perfectly. All other food and service was great as well, can’t wait to return

Tried the Obanzai set, which features a curated selection of nine small dishes. Each item was thoughtfully prepared, offering a well-balanced combination of flavours and textures—subtle, refined, and cohesive as a whole. One slight letdown was that one of the “dishes” turned out to be simply a plate of salt, which felt underwhelming compared to the creativity of the rest of the set. Overall, it’s a worthwhile experience, especially if you’re new to Obanzai-style dining. It works well as an entrée, allowing you to sample a variety of dishes in one sitting with beautifully considered presentation. Best suited for lighter eaters or those who enjoy smaller, delicate portions rather than a hearty meal.

The vibes are super chill and there are cherry blossom decorations everywhere which really tie the place together. The food was delectable and every dish we tried was amazing and even ordered more after because it was so good. The staff was super nice and accommodating. We came later in the evening so it wasn’t too busy. Soy milk is a must try. Overall super cute shop and great food, would come again.

The cosiest Japanese dining experience we've ever had in Perth. The vibe is bustling but relaxed. The family that runs Mame are just so lovely and welcoming. The food is fantastic and strikingly deliciously different to any other Japanese establishment we've been to in recent memory. Every dish we tried was all hit, no misses. Of note, although it didn't look as impressive as the other dishes we ordered, the chicken breast done in balsamic teriyaki (I think?) was exceptional and masterfully cooked. We still talk about it 🤗🥰. Mame is a must-visit for tofu lovers. Trust me. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu. Reservations essential as they filled up really quickly in the early evening.

Went to this place on a Sat evening for dinner. Place wasn't too busy. Food tasted good, and the prices were reasonable. My wife got a Ramen Soup. It must have been about 19 dollars and was supposed to be only available on that day. She got a Kid's Sushi Train for my son. 15 dollars and kept him amused all evening. I got Salmon Avocado Sushi. 16.70 I think. Fish seemed very fresh - one of the better sushis I've had. Parking was challenging
