Krijt
★ 5.0 · 28 reviews Antwerp Opened May 2026
A chalkboard menu that follows the market, not a script
Bart Gils and Sally Lauwers took over the old Kato space on De Vrièrestraat and built Krijt around French caves à manger and Catalan wine bars, the kind of place where the menu changes with what's good that day. It's chalked up fresh, from pâté and charcuterie to more elaborate plates.
No fixed card to memorize, just ask what's on the board and go from there.

Lovely cosy restaurant in the heart of Antwerp. Small menu with top ingredients (the Kintoa pork chop was insane!). Very extensive wine list and Sally had a great recommendation. Would 100% recommend for lovers of a good glass of wine and honest cooking.

As an Italian, I have always been struck by the extraordinary quality of restaurants in Antwerp. Every time I come here, I am reminded of the care and curiosity behind so many of them: a chef with a clear point of view, thoughtful sourcing, and ingredients of exceptional quality. That said, this restaurant is certainly one of the best I have ever tried, perhaps the best. The menu is written on a blackboard, which already tells you something important: it changes according to what is fresh, what is available, and what has been found that day. The wines by the glass are just as carefully chosen, a thoughtful and distinctive selection that travels across regions and countries in search of character, flavour and aroma. I particularly enjoyed the Philipp Kuhn 2024 Weißer Burgunder “Vom Kalksteinfels” from the Pfalz, elegant, mineral and beautifully suited to the food. Dinner was wonderful from beginning to end. I have a particular weakness for œufs mimosa, and here they were served with a little caviar. The combination was genuinely special. The homemade bread had extraordinary flavour and came with a caper butter that I could very happily have eaten on its own. Following the owner’s recommendation, I then tried a magnificent cut of pork neck, served with green beans wrapped in bacon. I finished with a piece of aged blue cheese. I do not know where it came from, but it was absolutely delicious. What more can I say? Beyond the warmth and kindness of the service, every dish had a clear identity, precise flavours and impeccable cooking. It is very rare for me to leave a restaurant feeling genuinely grateful for the experience. This was one of those times. I very much hope to return soon.

A fusion of craftsmanship, passion, and fantastic hospitality! And all this in a beautiful setting! Chef Bart and hostess Sally do everything they can to ensure an unforgettable evening with no-nonsense dishes paired with exquisite wines. They serve high-quality wines by the glass as well as a refined and extensive wine list that does justice to the dishes! A new, regular food spot that never disappoints me!
