Century-old Catalan espadrilles, wedge heel included, now at BlueMall

Castañer has been making espadrilles since 1927, and the house usually gets credit for putting a wedge heel on one for Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s. That heritage lands on the first floor of BlueMall, Local 020B, the brand's first Punta Cana store.

The fit-out favors jute and canvas over stacked boxes, natural materials in a plain palette. Stock leans summer: flats, wedges, sandals and a small ready-to-wear run, better suited to Punta Cana than the label's Barcelona rooms.
