A bookshop that stocks women writers only, open weekend afternoons

Every book on the shelves is written by a woman. That's the whole stock rule at Librería Anticanon de Autoras Dominicanas. It sits inside the Taller Público Silvano Lora on Calle Arzobispo Meriño, near the cathedral.

Dominican authors dominate the shelves, with Caribbean and Latin American writers alongside them. It grew out of Proyecto Anticanon, a women writers' network that became a small publisher of its own. It opens Saturday and Sunday afternoons, run by writers with day jobs.
