Dean Lyijynen's Thai restaurant, praised for the city's best curries

Dean Lyijynen, known in Helsinki for the Boneless restaurants, opened Pumpui on Vilhovuorenkatu in Sörnäinen in February 2025, a Thai kitchen built around curries, pad thai and chicken wings paired with a natural wine list rather than the usual beer-and-spirits pairing. Helsingin Sanomat singled out the curries specifically as some of the best in the city.

The natural wine pairing is a deliberate departure from how Thai food is usually served in Helsinki, and it has helped Pumpui stand out from a crowded field of Southeast Asian restaurants that lean on more predictable drink lists.
