MOME

Childhood-flavor pastries at the foot of the Grosse Cloche, from two friends turned pastry entrepreneurs
MOME opened at the foot of the Grosse Cloche, one of Bordeaux's medieval city gates, on November 26, 2025. Founders Orlane Guinot and Agathe Durand met during a business school program before switching to pastry. Guinot runs the kitchen, having worked alongside Christophe Michalak and Yann Menguy, and built the shop's concept around recreating the tastes of childhood with entirely homemade pastries.
The café-pâtissier filled up for afternoon tea within days of opening, according to local food press, a fast start for a neighborhood spot rather than a chef's flagship. Open Tuesday to Friday from 9am and Saturday from 10am, it gives central Bordeaux a pastry counter built on nostalgia rather than classic French baking tradition.

Thanks to the Bordeaux Old Town Food and Wine Tour we joined in early August, we discovered Mome Café Patissier — a relaxed, cozy spot serving exceptional pastries. Despite the lively crowd (always a promising sign), the staff remained welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. We even had a brief chance to chat with the owners, Orlane and Agathe — thank you both. Choosing just one pastry was nearly impossible given how tempting everything looked, but we ultimately went with the Apricot and Almond cake. One bite in, the flavors stopped us in our tracks. It instantly became our new favorite cake. Be sure to add Mome Café to your list of must‑visit cafés when you’re in Bordeaux.

Incredibly lovely interior, great place to work, unfortunately no AC and a bit of bad network connection (wifi sporadic). Pastries/cakes were ok but not incredible.

This is a hidden gem in Bordeaux that has quickly become my favourite place to have one of their refreshing beverages, as well as some of the best cakes and tarts which are all made in-store. Delicious 🤩
