Sasperia
★ 4.9 · 129 reviews Mtskheta Opened 20 June 2026
Named after the tribe that ruled this river confluence before Georgia existed
You get to Sasperia by boat if you park in the secured lot, which tells you something about the setting. The building sits right where the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers meet, the same view Jvari Monastery has held from the opposite hill for centuries.
The menu pairs classic Georgian dishes with reworked versions of the same recipes, and the wine list reads like it was built by someone who actually drinks natural Georgian wine. Stone, wood and traditional ornamental patterns fill the dining room, and most tables face the water. Want just coffee and dessert? Sasperia Café next door skips the full meal.

What a beautiful restaurant! We were there for lunch so the ambiance wasn't quite there, but the dining room is very pretty and I am sure with dinner lighting, even better. The service was good and we appreciated the menu options. We sat outside by the river but it was actually too warm and to be honest sometimes there would be a sewage smell, so it was not the most appetizing place to sit. I'd suggest inside if you go. We had the Georgian salad, a glass of wine and a warm chicken dish. It was all good.

I always recommend trying Georgian food when visiting Georgia, and Sasperia is definitely worth visiting. We tried the Georgian salad, Tashmijabi, chicken, and meat, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The location by the river is amazing, and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!
