A different grandmother's recipe cooked every single night

Every evening, a different "Oma" cooks her own signature dish inside the former Zur Eule brewhouse in Bayenthal, the title standing in for anyone with a story and a recipe rather than strictly a grandmother or a specific age. A professional chef translates her handwritten notes into the plating.

There's no walk-in seating, every evening is booked and paid for online in advance across two entry windows, and guests eat while hearing the cook's own stories about the dish.

A wonderful evening! What a fantastic concept!! Since we were there with a 99-year-old man who uses a wheelchair, we needed some information and assistance beforehand. Everything was so warm and uncomplicated. We then got to meet the youngest and oldest grandmas! YOU ARE all amazing!! The atmosphere, the food, the warmth... fantastic!!! Grandma Billa, ... now you have one more admirer!!! (and your salad dressing too 😄)!!! If it's not a family secret, we'd love the recipe. Now we'll drink a Jägermeister to you, or an Ouzo Gold... or both! Wishing you continued success 🍀 from Ewald and Anne

Amazing evening at Grandma's! I was at Grandma Anelie's today and had her turkey schnitzel – simply delicious and made with so much love. The best part: at first, our table was full of strangers, but by the end, we were chatting and laughing like we'd known each other forever. Strangers became friends – that's exactly what makes this place so special. Thanks, Grandma Anelie, I'll definitely be back! ❤️

We visited "Grandma Laura's" and they served meatloaf with stuffed potatoes and salad. For dessert, we had brownies. The food was just like Grandma used to make—simply delicious! They even offered seconds when we asked! The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We sat at a table with another couple and had a lovely chat the whole time! The concept is fantastic and highly recommended; I'll definitely be back!

What an experience! We just came from the restaurant and are thrilled. Today we had Königsberger Klopse (meatballs) made by Grandma Monika. The meal was very emotional for me because my grandma always cooked it for me. It tasted almost exactly like hers, and that alone is priceless. The whole concept is perfect. You sit at a table with strangers, share food from porcelain tureens, and even get seconds if you want. You help yourself to drinks from the refrigerator. You pay in advance when you book, so you can simply relax and enjoy the family atmosphere. We had wonderful and interesting conversations, and I highly recommend trying this restaurant and its unique concept! What I especially love is that there's a vegetarian option for every dish.
