Café Schwestis

A 100% vegan café run by two sisters
Wiebke and Nele Adelt opened Café Schwestis on October 22, 2025, right on the border of Reudnitz and Anger-Crottendorf. Everything on the menu is plant-based: handmade sourdough sandwiches, crispy focaccia, cakes and specialty coffee, all baked in-house.
Open Thursday through Sunday, it's part of a growing cluster of vegan spots on Leipzig's east side.

The completely vegan Café Schwestis has such a warm and cozy atmosphere, with so much attention to detail, that you feel right at home, like you're visiting a good friend. The various cakes are all incredibly delicious, not too sweet, and beautifully presented. The savory focaccia is also a great change of pace! It's a wonderful balance between unusual drinks and cakes and all-time favorites! There's something for adventurous visitors as well as those who simply enjoy the familiar (vegan!). They also have a truly huge selection of plant-based milk, as I'm mostly used to seeing oat milk in cafés. The whole team is incredibly friendly, and you can see that they enjoy their work; the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Overall, I can highly recommend Café Schwestis to anyone who wants to try vegan treats in a cozy atmosphere with incredibly lovely people. There's a step at the entrance to the café, but I (as someone with mobility aids) was immediately helped, and everyone was very helpful. And definitely try the new waffle breakfast! 10/10 I love this sister ❤️

A wonderful café in Leipzig's east end. A lovely, friendly atmosphere. Delicious vegan food and drinks. They're always adding cool, creative new options, like the new summer drinks menu. You can tell this café is a passion project; I always feel comfortable here and it's one of my favorites.

My best friend discovered the café on social media, and since we had a trip to Leipzig planned, we were eager to check it out. In the end, I came alone. With a book in my backpack, I ordered a matcha latte. Since I had no idea what the running joke was, I immediately asked for recommendations. The answer was clear: "Everything!" But I can't exactly buy half the café. So we continued exploring. I wanted something sweet, but preferably fruity. I opted for "summer berry," aka the cake. At the table (I was sitting inside), I pulled out my book. Several tables were occupied, which speaks volumes about the quality. Good places get around quickly. However, the spot on the wide windowsill I chose lacked a footrest for a longer stay. My legs kept falling asleep. I don't know how the two people who sat next to me fared. The matcha was exactly to my taste. Not too bitter, but not too sweet either. The glass was just too small; I would have loved more. The cake was also very good. It's been a long time since I've had such a light and flavorful cake. Lemony, berry, and summery—exactly as it was described to me. Thank you for the truly delicious opportunity to continue reading my book. I'll be back, even if it will probably be a while. And this time I'll bring my best friend. Best regards from Bremen
