Kölsch on tap, right beside Trier's own wine stand

A Kölsch bar in Riesling country sounds like a dare, and that's the point. Hauptmarkt 1 is Trier's first spot dedicated to Cologne-style beer, standing shoulder to shoulder with the city's own wine stand on the market square. Order at the bar and drink standing up, the way a proper Stehkneipe works.

A small food counter now backs up the drinks, turning out Mettbrötchen and other quick bites for wine drinkers and Kölsch fans alike. Open daily from noon, it's the easy stop between errands.
