Bando Beach

★ 4.4 · 876 reviews Utila Opened Opening date unknown

Utila's only private beach you can walk to

Skip the boat. Bando is the one private beach on Utila you reach on foot, a short walk from town and run by Sea Eye Hotels. The entrance fee gets you a spot on the sand, and it's credited against your bar tab, so it never feels like a straight cover charge.

Open from 10am every day except Tuesday and Wednesday, with a cocktail list made for lingering through sunset. Some mornings kick off with yoga before the bar crowd rolls in.

Good to know

  • Entrance is about L.50 (roughly $2) and gets credited toward whatever you order at the bar.
  • Open Monday, Thursday through Sunday, 10am to 9pm. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

Great place to relax, special events... Only a few minutes from the main street.

There is an entrance fee here, even if you spend money on food + drinks. It's a good idea to come and spend a good amount of time since you pay to be there. Came here with my family towards the late afternoon, the day prior in the afternoon, it was closed. The staff was very friendly and spoke English well. They have a park for the kids to play which is very nice. The beach itself is pretty picture perfect for spending time sun bathing or relaxing by the water. Because of the entrance fee it made it a more exclusive experience. I would come back again.

*Now with 8 TVs for sports viewing, and added booths for comfort seating. Great staff. Beautiful blue water and sunset views. Convenient lounge chairs, and shaded tables. Band shelter for events. Volleyball court, washers, corn-hole, ladder golf games. Anafre (bean dip) with chorizo is great for sharing! Build your own burrito 🌯 night, Thursdays from 6pm. *avoid the falafel, last two times it was mostly a flour dough ball. Barria Tacos on Tuesdays. Ask about the Hot Butter Rum toddy for cold days. Cold sodas in glass bottles. Highly environmentally conscious. From the use of all reusable silverware, glassware, straws. They squeeze so many limes, and other fruits with rinds, that they're able to use them as they go - by inverting them to be sauce containers. Never seen that anywhere. (Paper cups, and take-out trays available upon request. but they won't look at you funny if you bring your own container for take-away). Always a special event for all major holidays. Nice bathrooms, and a shower room for after swimming. Closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays. * The music varies. Some days it's great. Some days it's reggaeton. Wish they had a schedule for the music, it's so important for many who want to eat in peace.

Best beach on the island! Cheap to park motorbikes or ATV to stay a while. The bar and restaurant is top notch. Tacos alombre was the best dish I tried. Wild iguanas were fun to watch while we ate. There is a large shower and bathroom building behind the bar. The beach is CLEAN! They put in work keeping it that way and are committed to no plastics at the bar/restaurant.

Spent the afternoon here through sundown. Amazing food, great service, La20 Honduran craft beers available, beautiful beach, chill vibe and the best view of the sundown over the water in Utila Town.
