Bláa Kannan, the Blue Teapot, is a deep-blue corrugated-iron café on Hafnarstræti with a red-and-white striped facade. Inside it's cakes, coffee, soup and sandwiches in a warm old room.

It works as much as a meeting point as a café, busy from morning on. Grab a slice of cake and a window seat and watch the street go by.

The 40 euro breakfast is a bit of a ripoff. - 2 smallllllll pancakes (tiny) - 1 small glass of orange FULL of huge ice cubes (so, less OJ) - tiny tiny glass of muesli with joghurt - slice of an omelette that's actually more like quiche, relatively small. - 4 small strips of bacon (tasty, seems adequate) A+ for variety, D- for tiny portions of pancake, muesli, omelette, and very small OJ by volume. It's just not 40 euros of food. Even in Iceland.

Absolutely fantastic! Lovely interior and building, friendly staff, good coffee and delicious bakes. Went here several times during the stay in Akureyri.

Great place and great food. Only took off one star because some on the staff look tired to be there. And we went twice to see the same staff!!! They weren’t rude but they were not looking very enthusiastic to help us. A little strange from our time in Iceland where everywhere else, everybody has been very helpful and seemed enthusiastic to help.

Cinnamon roll: excellent Cafe Americano: excellent Spinach quiche: Don't do it! This may be the worst quiche recipe in all of the civilized world. Otherwise, this is a 5 star cafe. The ladies working the counter are good at their jobs. I want to go back for more coffee and maybe the lemon pound cake.

This is a very traditional Icelandic cafe and it is INCREDIBLE. The quality of food & drinks were amazing. I had the best mocha I’ve ever had (Hot Chocolate with espresso). The Pizza Panini was amazing too. And all the cakes! Lovely! The staff were very friendly and helpful!!
