A chikankari manufacturer's own shop, no wholesaler in between

Ethnava is the retail arm Sanjeev Agarwal built on Balaji Handicrafts, one of Lucknow's bigger chikankari manufacturing operations. It sells the same hand-embroidered kurtas, kurta sets, sarees and dress material the workshop supplies to others, minus the wholesale chain.

Most chikankari buying still happens in the lanes of Chowk and Aminabad, where the craft has been done for roughly four centuries. This is the other end of that spectrum: a glass storefront in the DLF MyPad courtyard, opposite the Hyatt, selling the same GI-tagged shadow work and jaali in Gomti Nagar.

Good to know

• It is on the courtyard side of DLF MyPad, opposite Hyatt Regency, not on the main mall frontage.
• Ask which stitch you are looking at: shadow work, jaali and murri are priced very differently.
