Seasonal Irish cooking down a lane off Dawson Street
Kevin O'Donnell and Laura Chabal opened Comet on Joshua Lane in 2025, on a side street most people walk past on their way down Dawson Street.
O'Donnell cooked at Bastible in Dublin and at Kadeau in Copenhagen before this, and the menu here follows the same seasonal logic: a short list, rewritten as the produce turns over.

Gorgeous little restaurant just off Dawson St. Great value for money, for €65 p/p we went for the Sunday set menu which can be seen attached. I’m always skeptic of tasting menus and not feeling full afterward but the amount of food you got was PERFECT! To begin with you get bread and three small plates of nibbles - the mount leinster tart was sublime! Then three plates for starters; gorgeous flavours - the courgette and pistachio fricasse was nice and fresh. Then pork chop for mains with a crispy pommes boulangère and strawberry tart to finish. They make their own ice cream and this weeks flavor was caramelised milk (so creamy and smooth). Paired with a glass of chenin blanc - from start to finish it was a delight! Definitely will be back again.

Some restaurants feed you; others leave a lasting impression. Comet Restaurant in Dublin firmly belongs to the latter. When you walk through the doors, you are immediately struck by the interiors which were effortlessly stylish, beautifully lit. The restaurant carries an atmosphere that manages to feel both sophisticated and incredibly welcoming. Our server, Louisa, was a gem. She had excellent knowledge of the menu and made delicious recommendations, including the bite size Red Leister tart, the recently added mussels skewers and a red Mayan chocolate dessert. The mix of flavours were all incredible. Despite being on the list, I was so surprised that Comet hasn't yet been awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand status. We are already planning our next visit, with our eyes firmly set on trying their Sunday lunch. If you haven’t been yet, book a table immediately!

We had a wonderful dinner at Comet and left thoroughly impressed. The menu is creative, the ingredients are excellent, and every dish was beautifully executed. The Mount Leinster tart (triple cheese) was an absolute standout — rich, perfectly balanced, and so delicious we could have easily ordered another. Other highlights included the bluefin tuna with new potatoes (very fresh and flavorful), the quail roasted on toast with Vin Jaune sauce (absolutely fantastic), the monkfish with peas and fig leaf sauce (excellent, almost lobster-like), and the aged duck with peach and golden beetroot (beautiful flavors). The liver parfait with spicy date and puff pastry was enjoyable, especially balanced on the bread and butter. The pommes boulangère was unique and tasty, particularly the crispy parts. We finished with the red cake — a must-order. It’s fluffy and mousse-like with lovely olive oil and caramel notes. The harmony of flavors when eaten together is fantastic. The only thing we didn’t like was the Stuffed chicken wing. It was too greasy. The staff and our server were incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive throughout the evening, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Comet delivered a memorable meal with excellent quality and creativity. Highly recommended.

An exceptional dining experience from start to finish. The meal unfolded beautifully, beginning with elegant and thoughtfully prepared starters before building into an avalanche of culinary delights. Every dish was tasteful, generous, immaculately cooked, and deeply satisfying. This ranks among the very best dining experiences I've had in Dublin. The food was confident, refined, and wonderfully filling without ever compromising on quality or creativity. What elevated the experience even further was the exceptional service. The staff were genuinely warm, friendly, attentive, and professional, creating an atmosphere that felt welcoming from the moment we arrived. Shout out to Mexico ! The minimalist design of the restaurant allowed the food and hospitality to take centre stage. We were hosting well-travelled guests from abroad, and this experience made us proud to showcase the quality of Dublin's dining scene. I predicted the last restaurant in Dublin would get a star and I have a stronger inkling with this one too ! Touché guys !

We had a truly exceptional culinary experience here — far beyond expectations. The carte blanche menu was delicious, creative, and remarkably well priced, paired with an outstanding selection of French and international wines. The service was incredibly attentive throughout. Our monkfish and pork mains were beautifully prepared, and the rice pudding dessert was a perfect finish. Every course felt fresh, savoury, harmonious, and thoughtfully composed. The ambition and talent of this young team shine both on the plate and in the atmosphere they create at the table. A memorable evening — outstanding food, wonderful energy, and genuine hospitality. Thank you. Michelin upgrade feels like only a matter of time.
