Indonesian tea, brewed properly

Java and Sumatra grow serious tea and almost nobody in Tokyo pours it. This bar on the east side of Shibuya does, alongside Indonesian food to match.

It sits away from the scramble, in the office blocks toward Hiroo. Quiet enough to sit and read, which in Shibuya is worth something.

The location was a bit hard to find, and the shop was small and felt a little cramped, but the pies, noodles, and tempeh were all freshly made and delicious. The layer cake was different from what I've had at other branches, which was a little disappointing. I wish there were more options on the food and dessert menu. I'll definitely go back again.

Stylish Indonesian goods and Indonesian cuisine. The owner, with her lovely smile, exuded a happy aura. The food was delicious too. On the second floor, there's the owner's general store and clothing shop, making for a fun experience. I'll definitely visit again! ♡

An Indonesian-style cafe that opened on July 11, 2026. It's a calm and stylish space tucked away in the back of the building, perhaps a hidden gem known only to those in the know. For lunch, I ordered the Rendang Pie (1300 yen). The pastry was moist and crispy, filled with plenty of beef. It's an original creation, wrapping the traditional rendang (a dish simmered in coconut milk and spices) in a pie crust. The beef flavor is strong, yet it's surprisingly light. That's thanks to the coconut milk. Adding the spiciness of sambal or the sweetness of kecap manis is also a good idea. It spreads a truly Indonesian flavor. The accompanying soup is also mildly acidic and easy to drink. Since I was there, I also ordered a Happy Soda (650 yen). It's like a lactic acid drink soda, with a hint of fruitiness. When I asked "Why Happy?", the cute reply was "Because it's soda." Apparently, it's an Indonesian staple, and the name comes from Soda Gembira (happy, joyful, blissful). I see, Happy Soda.

I had a meat pie! I was so happy because it was served fresh out of the oven – perhaps due to timing! It was packed with ethnic-style meat, and you could choose from three different sauces – they were all delicious. I think even people who don't like spices would enjoy it. The soup was salty and paired perfectly with the rich meat pie. The pickles on the side made it refreshing and delicious!
