A dessert studio built like a craft workshop
Coffee, matcha and pastry posters greet you before you even reach the counter at this second Lua location on Kabanbai Batyr Street. Pastry chef Alua Kobegenova treats dessert making as something worth lingering over, and the room backs that up with rugs, artwork and fresh flowers instead of the usual stripped-back dessert bar look.
The loyalty program is the real hook. Spend a set amount and you get a mystery card, redeemable next visit for a discount, a free drink or a dessert.

A small cafe with delicious food and excellent service. The desserts were very tasty and varied. Breakfast was good.

I visited this cafe randomly while wondering around Almaty. While they didn't have any vegan bakes, the staff went above and beyond to try and accommodate me, which I found to be rare when it came to having dietary requirements in Almaty/Bishkek. They even called their baker to see if there is anything at all they could serve me. I appreciated that a lot. I will be back next time I am in the city as the place is cozy and clean, the service is excellent and the bakes that they do have would make any afternoon better, especially if you are an anime fan.

Cosy place, we stumbled upon when they had Matcha Day. Staff were very kind. We tried banana matcha and special matcha cookie was delicious.

Lua Pastry Studio in Almaty has potential with its exciting pastry flavors, but execution needs work. The mousse cake was a bit too firm due to excessive gelatine, and the macaroon had a disappointingly limp texture. Sweetness level was spot on, though! Service and ambience were good. Hope they tweak the textures for a better experience 😊.
