Thai glamour in a century-old shophouse

Gold leaf on the front room, a garden out back for the slower nights. Chada took a house built in the early 1900s in Anou Village and turned it into one of Vientiane's better-looking bars.

The Bangkok team behind it built the menu around Thai tapas and cocktails made with the bar's own infusions. Expect a mix of expats and travellers who already know the Bangkok original. Closed Wednesdays.

Chada Vientiane is a hidden gem for craft cocktail lovers! We tried the Golden Crown, Angel’s War (love the Ramayana inspiration!), classic Vodka Martini, and Margarita – all were beautifully crafted with fresh ingredients and perfectly balanced flavors. Tasty and refreshing every time. The staff were outstanding: professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly, making us feel right at home in this elegant, gold-gilded historic spot. It’s a cozy small bar with a sophisticated Thai-inspired vibe, perfect for intimate evenings. The only downside was after 11 pm when the music got turned up quite loud (speakers mounted high but the low ceiling made it echo intensely). Unfortunately, it gave my husband an earache the next day. Would still highly recommend for early evening drinks – just maybe head out before it ramps up!

What an experience! This is one of the best cocktail bars, and probably the best in Laos! For the Halloween party, we enjoyed a specially created cocktail menu featuring five delicious drinks. And if you don’t find something you love there, they also offer 11 classic cocktails you can order anytime. (Special mention to the “I’m Innocent”, a rum-based milk punch, and an AMAZING New York Sour!) Even though the place was crowded, every member of the amazing team took time to chat or give you a bit of personal attention, something that’s not so common around here. My only regret was not being able to try the sharing plates from their menu because it looked fantastic! Overall, this is a bar I’d definitely recommend if you’re traveling in Laos.
