A sixth-floor view over the old city

Come for the skyline, stay for the DJ. Selene sits on the 6th floor of the Souphattra Hotel in Xaysettha district, pouring from a full bar with room for about a hundred people. Thursday-to-Saturday DJ nights are the reason it fills up.

It's one of several rooftop bars that landed across Vientiane in the same eighteen months, each claiming a slice of skyline that wasn't a bar view five years ago.

I visited this place with a group of friends and it was very nice. The price is higher than a normal place but I guess that's what you get for this view on top of a 5 star hotel so I don't complain. This bar got drinks, alcohol, cocktails, juice and smoothie for all preference. The food menu is also very nice and rich. You can order yourself a set of steak with decent price. You won't get the same price in the western countries. From the top of the building, you can see the Arc de Triomp from far away and take very good pictures. The tables are separated apart so you have plenty of space for talk and chit chat with your friends. Another plus thing is that they open very late so you can stay and have a drink til midnight. Having a place like this to hang out is quite an experience. I would highly recommend anyone to come and try it out. We ordered Aloe Ginger juice and Berry smoothie. The Juice is not impressive but the smoothie is quite good with a rosemary on top for extra flavor. Overall, good experience.

We spent New Year's Eve here on the rooftop and loved the view of the monument! The buffet had a huge variety of tasty food, and the service was both friendly and professional. The drinks were great, too. Overall, it's a fantastic place to enjoy a night out with family and friends.
