Belgian abbey beer takes over Kaļķu iela

Leffe anchors the taps at this monastery-themed gastropub smack in the middle of Old Town's main drag. The kitchen builds pub food to match the beer's strength, and the room plays the theme with a straight face rather than a wink.

It's a branded concept, the first of its kind in Latvia, but it fills a real gap on a street otherwise split between souvenir pubs and fine dining.

Attentive and friendly staff. The restaurant is a bit pricey for Riga. I ordered baked Camembert as a starter because I was really hungry, followed by duck breast with rhubarb, asparagus, barley risotto and gravy for my main course. The main dish felt a little small for the price, but after having the starter, the portion was actually sufficient. The flavours complemented each other beautifully and everything worked really well together. The meal was absolutely delicious.

We were here with friends for a late dinner on Saturday. We were served by a very friendly waitress. We had a ribeye steak, which was excellent. I also had fries as a side dish, otherwise the steak comes with potato gratin. The food was absolutely superb. All praise to the staff.

Don’t make the same mistake as we did. Sitting outside. The atmosphere inside is unmatched compared to the outside seating. You wouldn’t say that’s the same restaurant. Outside it looks pretty ordinary, but inside it’s a whole another story. We ate pork leg and tortellini with spinach ricotta. Even though the portions may look small, you are more than full after them. And the taste is great. Such an exquisite experience.

I give 5 stars because everything just turned out great when it came together, Service ❤️ Atmosphere and food. We went there twice, first we just stopped by had some drinks and snacks i tried a cheery beer and my husband was ordered local beer, chicken wing and shims and it was good ..we were desired to comeback for my husband birthday dinner..I was ordered Mussels and my husband had ordered steak it was perfect and the most made our day was a service from a young man with a gigantic salt and peppers 😍 he was taken very good service make sure that we had a good time and it was absolutely amazing..thank you

Love this little pub at a busy intersection in Riga old town. Great food, great selection of beers. Tables on the side walk to watch the world go by. Make sure you have a go at the homemade foccacia - goes well with the steak tartare 😃
