The medina's cultural cafe, on its own square

Al Ghersa sits on Ghersa Kbira, one of the open squares inside Tetouan's medina, and leans as much toward cultural and artistic space as cafe. It's a regular on the informal lists locals and tourism accounts put together of the medina's best cafes, usually mentioned alongside Riad Borj El Hafa and Café Granada.

The draw is traditional Moroccan atmosphere with outdoor seating right on the square, a real point of difference in a medina this compact, where most cafes get squeezed into side alleys.
