Shisha, DJ sets and a younger crowd on Rua 12

Start Bar Lounge sits on Rua 12 in Pemba's lower town. Shisha, resident DJs and a lounge setup pull in a younger crowd than the hotel bars along the Marginal. It's one of the newer nightlife spots to open away from the beach strip, giving locals another option beyond the tourist venues.

There's no food menu here. The format runs on themed nights and DJ sets, closer to a nightclub-lounge hybrid than a restaurant. If you want to see where younger Pemba actually goes out, skip the Marginal and head to Rua 12.
