Taiwanese wheel cakes, matcha and a bookshop corner in De Pijp

The wheel cake is the thing here: a round, griddled pancake filled to order, sweet or now and then savoury. Kikiboba brought it to the Van Woustraat, along with bubble tea done properly and matcha.

It's half café, half cultural store. Books, goods and design objects from Taiwan share the room with an exhibition wall, so you leave with a snack and a paperback. Open from eleven until six, closed Thursdays.

Kind staff, cozy relaxing place and great matcha. Super nice that no sugar was an option and it was delicious! I also had the kimchi cheese potato wheel cake and it was really delicious as well. Must try!!

Friendly service, we have tried the ube matcha custard before which was nice and subtle (not too sweet, just perfect). After this we came back for the nice lunch combo deal 3 wheelcakes for €14, definitely worth it! Fresh, warm, made with care and love. Highly recommend this peaceful place where you can easily enjoy your time and calm down. Would be nice to have more savory options, but the kimchi cheese potato is definitely good! Also the ube cheese combination is nice and we love taroooo! Thank you for having us and sharing this goodness from Taiwan, apparently very common there🫶.

I think it’s a nice place. There is nothing to complain about when it comes to the service. The boba was fine, I liked the oolong tea they use, but the wheel cake was definitively the highlight. Lots of filling and not too sweet. I would come back to try the other drinks but the interior is not my taste (very much basement-looking and grey) so rather for a takeaway- if you like minimalist interiors it might be better suited for you.

Absolutely loved this place! The milk tea is rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced, and the desserts are fresh and delicious without being too sweet. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming, and they patiently introduced the menu to me. I’ll definitely be coming back!❤️

Very tasty and fresh wheel cake! Red bean is so good, will come again next week. Coffee is also delicious. Minimalist interior design that feels like stepping into a gallery and a meditation zone. I highly recommend this place.
