Sixteen-seat omakase above the Maashaven in Katendrecht

Sixteen seats and one chef. No menu. Ricky Biharie cooks the whole omakase himself on the first floor of a new-build on the Sumatraweg, with the Maashaven filling the windows. He walked away from Jazz House Sushi on the Pannekoekstraat to do it.

The Japanese base gets French technique and an Indonesian streak, which is Biharie's own background talking. Opened in July 2026. A more casual bistro with a terrace is planned for the ground floor.

The food was above expectation good. We had the 10 course dinner. The flamed salmon with caviar, the mackarel, and the blue fish tuna in marinade were our favourites. The owner was very welcoming and you could tell he had passion for his food. The restaurant is very intimate especially on weekdays when there is room for 5 so keep that in mind depending on the type of dinner you want. I would have given 5 stars if alcohol was served or it would have been stated beforehand there wouldnt be. Also on arrival we were offered a 'tasting' of wine and if we would like it we could book an arrangement, but in the end we were just charged for it (+40 euro).

The dishes were very good, prepared in front of us with high-quality ingredients, and each time we received a very precise explanation of the dishes. It was a wonderful discovery of flavors. We were only four people that evening, which slightly affected the atmosphere, but it was still a very lovely evening overall. It was just a pity that the drink pairing included only non-alcoholic beverages (which we discovered once we were there), which makes the drinks package a bit expensive.

Living in Rotterdam for more than 3 years this is the first restaurant I visited more than once and couldn’t wait to eat there again. The menu is really an experience, the chef clearly loves what he does and you can taste that passion in every bite. The limited seats also makes this very personal and fun. I highly recommend and will sure be coming back every season to try the new creations of the chef.

It was a perfect night out with my girlfriend, great atmosphere and a super chef who can talk like its your friend. Definitely going back with some friends or another date. Thanks for the great service last night!
