Brasserie Blanche: professional interior shot of restaurant

Brasserie Blanche

★ 4.5 · 866 reviews Oslo Opened Opening date unknown

French brasserie classics in a former stable yard

Brasserie Blanche cooks French classics, tartare, onion soup, steak frites, in a courtyard building near Homansbyen that began life as an 18th-century stable and later did time as a garage and an interiors shop. The leafy back yard is one of the better summer tables in the area.

The menu changes with the seasons but keeps the brasserie backbone, and there is a proper wine list to match. It is a reliable, unfussy dinner off the main drag.

Tucked into the back of a lot between a few buildings, Brasserie Blanche is an excellent restaurant/bistro/brasserie for those looking for fine food, wine and atmosphere. We showed up at 7pm on a Sunday with no reservations and were immediately sat. Quaint and comforting atmosphere. Take some time to admire the decor. The waiter quickly greeted us, and offered some drink options. They have a wide selection of wines. For a meal, my Schnitzel was excellent and my wife’s Trout was perfection. We split a salad starter and an Apple Tart to round out the meal. We would have loved to stay longer. If you want an excellent dining experience in Oslo, make this a stop.

Food ok, priced too high for the taste and quality of the food. If you like everything in butter you would sure like it. Great wine selection. Ok service, but for the price point it should be excellent. Not sure how they have a Michelin star? Food is is definitely unforgettable for the amount of butter in absolutely everything. 2nd glass of wine wasn't even poured the right amount (too little), while other guests had way more in their glasses.

Outstanding service, delicious food, and incredibly friendly staff. I’ve been to many well-known restaurants, yet very few offer the cozy, warm atmosphere and incredible flavors that this place delivers. Every dish feels thoughtful and full of taste, perfectly paired with great spirits. The staff’s recommendations are spot on—definitely listen to them. Michelin-star quality at a fraction of the price. Absolutely worth every penny.

Decent place overall. The atmosphere was nice and the seating comfortable. We started with the crayfish, which was delicious. For the main course, I ordered the grilled entrecôte medium rare, but it was served very rare and ended up being a bit average. The Merlot by the glass was decent. One thing to note is to check the bill, we were slightly overcharged for drinks, but this was promptly corrected when pointed out. Overall, a good place with a nice ambience and room for improvement.

Had snails for the first time ever. Very very nice. Mains was steak which was cooked to perfection. Atmosphere and service was excellent. Worthy of a visit.
