Tres Panes splits the menu down the middle. Oatmeal and avocado toast with bacon on one side, traditional Puerto Rican sandwiches on the other, so nobody has to compromise. Coffee and matcha cover the drinks, and the pastry case is baked in-house.

It sits on the southern edge of San Juan, so you get a real breakfast without fighting traffic into Santurce. Weekday mornings are the calm window to grab a table.

Tres Panes Coffee Shop has everything it needs to make my top 10 breakfast spots. Located on Highway 177 in what looks like a food truck park, the staff is so kind and helpful they would probably adopt you if you cried at the service window. I ordered the avocado toast and the Dulce Salada, and my taste buds threw a thank-you party. I also got an iced Americano so I wouldn't pass out and could get my caffeine fix. I couldn't leave without trying the cinnamon roll, which was small but delicious. The place is on the second floor with an open-air terrace, so get ready to climb some stairs. Parking is easy to grab for now because it is new, but hurry up before everyone else gets here. They accept card payments.

Slow but their matcha is amazing! The staff was all very kind and tried to make the slow situation better by giving us free sparkling water and treats. That says a lot of them in my book.

Food was overall good. No real avocados in the avocado toast so be ready for and okay with commercial spread. Coffee was mid but they have some good equipment so I'm sure it'll get better. The seating area is a covered "rooftop;" beware of the heat. There was no wait for the table, but a little too long of a wait for the food and coffee to come out. I'm sure they'll get better once they hit the ground running in a couple months.

We absolutely loved Tres Panes! Everything we ordered was spectacular: the meatloaf, the avocado toast, the latte, and the Spanish iced latte.
