Real Moroccan cooking on the edge of the souq
Skip the main strip. Argan sits on the quieter fringe of Souq Waqif inside the Al Jasra Boutique Hotel, and Chef Mohamed Echarouti's kitchen keeps things close to home: slow-built tagines, briouats fried to order, a harira regulars come back for during Ramadan.
It's one of Doha's Michelin Bib Gourmand picks, recognition for value rather than spectacle. The room stays plain. The food does the talking.

A peaceful restaurant in a great location, serving authentic Moroccan cuisine. The portions are generous and satisfying, and the Moroccan decor is stunning. Definitely worth a visit and coming back for more.

Both the portion sizes and the food quality were great, as was the Moroccan mint tea!

We came here based in the Michelin recommendation. I would say there are way better restaurants in the souq that are better. Service was extremely slow. Food took 35min to come. It's morrocan style but it didn't blow us away. Couscous and lamb leg was probably the best fish. The mixed grill is reasonable but not a lot on it. Restaurant is rather empty and feels a little cold. Bit harder to get to as it s adjacent to the souq. Has a Shisha lounge.

It is situated in a hotel so the environment was really nice. The food was good but I wouldn’t say it was particularly memorable. My favorite from the meal was the Royal Couscous that had vegetables, chicken, and lamb.

I was immediately charmed by the cozy and inviting interior, and the service from Mohamed was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The food was outstanding. I especially recommend the Tagine Laham (slow-cooked lamb) and the Moroccan Mohalabiya dessert, both absolutely delicious. A wonderful dining experience I hope to repeat!
