A no-frills beer and liquor bar on Huye's university side, the one every visitor hits eventually.

Wikivoyage's old Butare guide put it simply: nearly every restaurant in Huye doubles as a bar, and 5/5 is the version that leans all the way into that side. Beer and liquor over food. It sits toward Tumba, on the university side of town, away from the Rue Rwamamba cafe strip.

It's a modest room by most accounts. Still, it's stayed on the regular Huye circuit long enough that older travel guides listed it as a fallback when the fancier spots were full.

Good to know

• Basic room, but it's the reliable option if downtown places are booked up.
