A coffee academy in Huye that trains baristas, and pours one of the best cups in Rwanda.

Cafe Connexion is a coffee academy first. It trains people working in Rwanda's specialty coffee industry. The retail shop at House 58 on Butare's RN1 is the visible half of the business. Travelers who stop through call it the best coffee they found in the country. That's a real claim in a nation built on the crop.

Take home roasted beans or drink espresso and filter coffee on site. Open 8am to 7pm on weekdays, shorter hours on Sunday.

Good to know

Ask about the beans behind the counter, roasted retail is part of the business here, not an afterthought.

Great small Café that supports local growers and provides coffee at affordable prices (social cause to also provide coffee to locals) Check it out while travelling through and bring some beans or grinded coffee with you.

Since I was an exchange student at PIASS between 2016-2017, I used to come here often. I am confident a cup of coffee here is one of the best in Rwanda. Rwandan staff are kind, and price is reasonable. However, be careful of a European owner here because he is a quite moody person and he is not kind to customer when his mood is low.

One of the highlights of our time in Rwanda. The coffee here is second to none. The business is based on an ethical farm to cup model intended for the domestic market meaning the coffee is affordable and the patrons, Rwandan.
