Fifty years of coffee history at Adelsgatan 38, open again
Nya Skafferiet opened in late March 2025 at Adelsgatan 38, a building that poured coffee and pastries on and off for about fifty years before switching to restaurant service in recent years. Jelle Van Echelpoel, who has run the Gute Rosteri coffee roastery in Barlingbo since 2016, revived the café concept, with Anika Merle as manager.
The coffee comes from Van Echelpoel's own roastery. Beyond that, expect pastries, breakfast trays, sandwiches, and a short list of Gotlandic and Belgian beer and wine, with seating on the street, inside, or in a sheltered courtyard, plus a fireplace for winter. Open year-round, seven days a week.

Totally by coincidence we sat down and noticed they had Belgian beer (us being Belgian). Tried the safran cake and it was pretty good. Friendly staff, calm atmosphere. Small terras street side.

i was so excited to try this coffee. the café itself is cozy and beautifully decorated. guy who greeted us was friendly, he may have been a trainee. i ordered two cappuccinos and one cortado with a slice of carrot cake. the carrot cake was dry and quite hard, although it tasted okay. the cappuccinos were served in small cups, while the cortado came in a large glass. maybe they had run out of the proper cups, but i honestly couldn’t tell any difference between the drinks. both coffees were served extremely hot, and the milk wasn’t steamed very well. the foam separated from the coffee, which was disappointing. i was hoping for a different experience, especially from a café that roasts its own coffee :(

Super yummy rueben sandwich and delicious latte. Cosy atmosphere inside with lovely dried flowers everywhere! Also appreciate the generous sizes of the tables. Recommend.
