Bar Buco opened on 16 May 2024 on Hästgatan, in a spot that used to be a juice bar. The kitchen turns out South European small plates, and the wine list leans on small, often biodynamic producers. Three rooms carry three moods: an intimate dining room styled like a chaotic backstreet, a narrow bar the team calls Visby's only true hole-in-the-wall, and a courtyard for everything else.
In June 2025, during Hanseatic Days, Bar Buco took over the courtyard next door after Vinäger closed, growing from a few dozen seats to just over 200. Artist Pierre Tietjens repainted the courtyard and street facade with Mediterranean-toned murals for the relaunch.

Bar Buco. Cozy wine bar with a lovely bartender/sommelier. We told him what we liked and he brought out wines that matched it. The experience with the history of the wine and how it was made raised the experience to 10 out of 10.
