French tartines and quiet lunches near the embassies
Cafe Tartine holds down a corner room off Wireless Road, right in the embassy quarter, with the kind of tartines, quiches and salads that don't try too hard and don't need to. Come for a slow breakfast or a working lunch and you'll fit right in with the diplomats and office crowd.
Nothing here chases trends. It's straightforward French bistro-café food, best on a quiet weekday when you want a table without a wait.

Mac Salad here always tastes superb; good quality chicken breast and refreshing salad. Today we tried chicken breast stuffed with spinach and truffle sauce -- also another dish to recommend.

Absolutely fantastic breakfast spot! The fruit salad was the highlight—freshly cut and a massive portion. Super friendly service, and they even gave my son pens and paper to color, which made our morning so relaxed. Highly recommend!

Very good brunch place. Food is great and price is reasonable. Club sandwich is very fresh. Forgot to take photo of the ceasar salad my partner ate it fast.

I stopped by Café Tartine after an appointment at the embassy and was looking for breakfast without spending too much, since most places around this area are quite pricey. This seemed to be one of the more reasonably priced options nearby. The breakfast menu offers a good variety of choices, and most of the customers appeared to be foreigners. As a Thai customer, I found the menu a little difficult to navigate because there were no photos, so I ended up choosing based on the descriptions. The portions were quite large and filling. As for the taste, it was okay but nothing particularly memorable for me. I can understand why it appeals to international customers, and I think the flavors would suit Western tastes well. Thai customers should be able to enjoy it too, although it wasn't really my favorite. The indoor seating felt a bit cramped and made the space feel crowded when there were several customers. There is outdoor seating available, which looked much more comfortable, especially later in the day. The morning heat made it less appealing during my visit. Service was fine overall. One thing I noticed was that some staff members were chatting quite loudly among themselves in Thai. Since many customers seemed to be foreigners, it felt like they were less aware of how their conversations might come across. A few remarks sounded less professional than I would expect from a café with this kind of atmosphere. It wasn't a big issue since I was only stopping by for breakfast, but it did become a little distracting while eating. The dessert display looked very tempting, although I was too full to try anything. Overall, it was a convenient place to grab breakfast, with reasonable prices for the area and generous portions. Not somewhere I would specifically return to, but it served its purpose for a quick meal before heading out.

I have been patronizing Cafe Tartine for over a decade. After extensively testing alternatives across the city, this establishment remains the definitive standard for a Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame in Bangkok. - The Béchamel: Flawless. Finding a technically accurate béchamel that meets strict French culinary standards in Bangkok is notoriously difficult, but Tartine’s execution is perfectly calibrated in both taste and consistency. - Portion Sizing: High value-to-cost ratio. The servings are robust and significantly more generous than competing establishments. - Secondary Offerings: The wider menu maintains rigorous quality control. The quiches and sandwiches are executed exceptionally well and serve as highly reliable alternatives. - Atmosphere: Accurately replicates a genuine Paris cafe environment. It delivers an authentic spatial baseline without feeling artificially manufactured. - Staff Performance: Consistently excellent. Across a decade of visits, the service has remained highly reliable, accommodating, and genuinely friendly. No unnecessary fluff. If you demand the highest standard for a Croque Monsieur paired with legitimate Parisian ambiance and consistent service, this is the optimal choice.
