Thai craft, old pieces and new, in a Song Wat shophouse

A spare, Japanese-leaning order sets Road of Cinnamon apart from the godown clutter up and down Song Wat Road. The owners buy straight from artisans across Thailand: ceramics, woven pieces, wooden objects, textiles, then mix that new work with older found pieces.

It's become one of the fixtures of the Song Wat revival, the stretch of Chinatown riverfront where old trading houses keep turning into cafes and galleries. Small goods start around 100 baht, so browsing here doesn't need a collector's budget.

Good to know

  • Open daily 10am-8pm; prices start around 100 baht, so it works for small gifts as well as serious craft pieces.
  • Pair it with Garçon Dept a few doors down - the two shops anchor Song Wat's retail stretch.

You can find some gems. I found a Pearsons of Chesterfield Jar - production from around mid 70s/mid 80s. A good mid century sturdy quality jar. It’s not rare. But it is a vintage piece. Also found sone unique Japanese cups. The place is highly instagrammable. So tourists just show up to make pictures in a very small shop without having a damn interest in buying anything. Which makes it hard to enjoy/look, for people who genuinely wants to find something (hence the 4 stars).

Very cosy little shop - super packed with tourists though so it was a little hard to move around and really see the little trinkets

We spent an hour admiring the cute and vintage cutlery, decorative pieces, handicrafts, and showpieces packed in this tiny store. Everything is overpriced but we still managed to discover unique gifts for our friends. Worth a visit!

Road of Cinnamon is a beautifully curated craft and lifestyle shop located in the charming old buildings of Song Wat Road. The space itself is full of character, with bold colors, thoughtful displays, and soft lighting that highlight each item perfectly. It’s easy to spend 30 minutes or more simply browsing and enjoying the atmosphere. The shop brings together high-quality handmade crafts from skilled Thai artisans across the country. You’ll find everything from pottery, ceramics, tableware, jewelry, textiles, and home décor to larger pieces like furniture. Each item feels carefully selected, with its own story and strong sense of local identity. Prices reflect the craftsmanship, but many pieces are more approachable than expected. As the name suggests, they also sell fragrant, high-quality cinnamon, along with other interesting items and drinks, including TODD’S craft cola — a refreshing stop on a hot day. If you’re exploring Song Wat and enjoy discovering unique Thai crafts in a setting that blends heritage with modern design, Road of Cinnamon is well worth a visit. 📍 Ngua Thai Heng Building, opposite Khlong Bang Luang Mosque
