Tawansy works the side streets near Nimman, pouring coffee alongside all-day breakfast plates and sweets in a bright, design-conscious room. It fits the neighbourhood's habit of building cafes as much for photos as for food, but the kitchen still holds its own.

The menu suits a slow weekend morning, the kind of place friends post up in for a couple of hours. Among the dense run of cafes around Nimmanhaemin, this one earns its spot.

This little place, just northwest of old town, is a gem. While many restaurants have Thai and western offerings, the food here truly is truly a fusion of Thai, western, and middle eastern cuisines. The owners, Ramy and Vi, are kind and attentive. Really nice people. Everything was cooked to perfection and fresh. They use deliciously tender Australian beef for some dishes (like the beef with Jaew sauce) and Thai beef for others. They understand the nuances of flavors and use only the best seasonal ingredients. Their Tamirind glazed chicken wings and prawns are unbelievably delicious. The papaya salad (Some Tum Prara) is spicy, tangy, and delicious. Get some rice to soak up all the tasty good juice. Yum! I will be coming back for sure.

I stumbled on here looking for ginger tea. The lady was super kind enough to prepare one despite they don't make one as a regular drink from the menu. She also offered me a local Thai drink with spices that helps ease the stomach and prevents nausea. Thank you're very much!

I was there yesterday and had a great experience. The food was very delicious. We were welcomed very friendly, such nice people.I ordered the pumpkin soup, stir-fried vegetables, and an omelette, and everything tasted excellent and fresh. My friend had Australian beef with rice and egg, which was also very good. We will definitely come back.

Tawansy has become one of our “go-to” spots for great food and friendly service. We’ve liked everything we tried, but especially the tamarind-glazed chicken wings and the grilled beef. They make the best chicken with cashew nuts that I’ve tried anywhere (sorry no pics of that because it’s always eaten too fast). And every time we go, we get the Egyptian salad, which is delicious and healthy. I’m literally getting hungry writing this. The servers/owners are incredibly kind and attentive. Highly recommend!

What a great find, such a warm welcome from the owner. The food was amazing, so tasty, cooked perfectly to our taste, lots of gorgeous food to order off the menu, very reasonably priced. Excellent service! We ordered the banana samosas…. New to the menu! Delicious, a must try! Highly recommend here..
