A French tapas bar reopens as a wine bar under a MasterChef finalist
Cépages ran on Westbourne Park Road as a French tapas bar before reopening under Gaston Savina, a French chef who reached the finals of MasterChef: The Professionals. Wine is now the organising principle rather than an accompaniment.
The corner sits between Notting Hill and Westbourne Park, a stretch with more good wine lists per square mile than almost anywhere in London. Reopening as a wine bar reads as a fair bet on what the area already supports.

I was so excited to finally have dinner at Cépage, and it was even better than I had imagined. There were four of us, which meant we could share lots of dishes, and I’m so glad we did because every single one was amazing! The aubergine caviar with torched tuna completely blew me away. It was so fresh and full of flavour. The escargot pie was another highlight. I’d never had escargot prepared like that before, and I absolutely loved it. It was also my first time trying boudin noir, and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Also the 12-hour cooked ox cheek was so tender that you could cut it with a spoon. I genuinely can’t pick a favourite because I loved everything we ordered. Last but not least, I have to mention the little details… the menu, the knife holder, and even the butter were just the cutest!!! I already can’t wait to go back

First of all, the restaurant is now run by a new Chef. The food is absolutely incredible. After years of traveling the world and trying many fancy places, it’s very hard to find something that can still surprise you, where every ingredient is there for a reason, contributing to the end result. Every single thing on the plate has earned its right to be there. Nothing is added just to look clever or justify a price tag. With every mouthful, you can actually taste the brains at work behind the stoves. It’s logical and yet creative. If you truly love good food, get yourself to Cépages immediately. Honestly, if you live in Paris, forget your local bistro and hop on the Eurostar. And if you’re sitting in Tokyo right now... get to the airport. It’s that good.

My partner and I went here for my birthday meal. The food was outstanding and typifies the chefs classic French food with a twist style. We adored the playful fois gras crème brûlé starter and pie d’escargot. The chicken langoustine was also very special. The service was outstanding too and Anna was incredibly helpful.

An absolute gem in London. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. The restaurant itself is beautiful, elegant, intimate, and full of charm. Gaston the owner was so kind in recommending the best dishes. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, but the real standout for me was the mashed potato. Without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had. Silky smooth, perfectly seasoned, and so good that I’m still thinking about it. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Incredible food, impeccable service, and a gorgeous setting. I can’t wait to come back.

A truly outstanding experience. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere elegant, and the service impeccable. Gaston, the owner, is incredibly charming, passionate, and innovative, and it shows in every detail. The staff were equally warm and professional, and a special shoutout to the sommelier for the excellent wine recommendations. A well-deserved 5 stars.
