A Russian dumpling restaurant relaunches as a natural wine bar

The Blenheim Crescent site was Zima, a Russian dumpling restaurant, before relaunching as Sova. The wine list is the change: natural, low-intervention, front and centre, while the kitchen stays Eastern European, so the pelmeni stay on the menu.

Notting Hill's wine bars mostly point at France and Italy, so a list built to sit alongside sour cream, dill and cured fish is genuinely different. Blenheim Crescent runs off Portobello Road, busy on market days and quiet the rest of the week.

Lovely neighbourhood restaurant, a very nice choice of Eastern European fusion-esque foods: the beef tartare and the beetroot croquettes were amazing! We also had chicken and duck for main, both of which were cooked really well! The wine list is certainly very different, but all the drinks we had were also very tasty. Overall very recommend visiting this place, I’d certainly come again and try their other dishes!

Amazing spot I love it. Only food was not good at all. Would be better if was more eastern european, like the wine list. More georgian, more russian, more ukrainian, less "croquettes," less "tuna tartar" Music excellent, staff is very cool

I recently visited SOVA in Notting Hill and had such a lovely experience. Tucked away just moments from the iconic Notting Hill Bookshop, it feels like one of those places you instantly want to return to. The atmosphere is what caught my attention first. The walls lined with vinyl records give the space so much character, creating a warm, relaxed setting that feels both stylish and welcoming. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual lunch, a glass of wine, or an evening with friends, the vibe is effortlessly cool. The food was equally impressive. My standout favourites were the Jamón, which was beautifully sliced and full of flavour, the beetroot croquettes, crisp on the outside and wonderfully creamy inside, and the crispy sea bass, cooked perfectly with a delicate crunch and fresh, vibrant accompaniments. To finish, the dark chocolate mousse was rich, indulgent, and the perfect ending to the meal. Combined with attentive service and a unique concept that blends wine, food, and music so seamlessly, SOVA is a fantastic addition to Notting Hill. A spot well worth visiting if you’re in the area. Highly recommended. 🍷🎶📚✨
